Wall Safes and Floor Safes: Out of the Box Security

Most home and business owners tend associate the value of a safe with the size of its footprint and the thickness of its walls - both of which are two noble concerns - after all, it's not going to do you any good if it can't hold anything within its easily compromised walls.  The bottom line is, however, that many immediately look for a security option that sits in the corner of the room, failing to consider thinking outside of the box...or rather on the perimeter.

Many security experts suggest the notion that if the thief can't find your valuables, he can't steal them.  Even a thick steel lock box can be subject to a successful break in attempt by a thief who knows what he's doing. If he doesn't know the safe exists, however, he won't ever try to open it.  Wall safes and floor safes, usually easily installed, can be hidden behind or underneath furniture, pictures, rugs, and any other visual obstacles that may prevent a crook from taking a crack at your belongings.

Of course, it isn't only about the out of site, out of mind advantage - what if thief has prior knowledge of the safe's whereabouts, or just so happens to stumble upon it randomly?  It's in your best interest to invest in a resilient solution.  One great benefit of floor safes is that, when mounted within concrete, they have a virtually impenetrable perimeter barrier.  All that's needed is a lid with a good lock and a thick top, of which comes included with most models of the floor safe variety.

Unless mounted within a concrete wall, wall safes don't generally share the same natural defense.  However, proper placement and thorough installation between sturdy studs (preferably steel) can create quite the deterrent for a crook in a hurry.  One key feature that wall safes offer is quick access, particularly with gun owners.  If you need access to your firearm in a hurry, there are few quicker places to sprint to than the nearest wall.  Many even come equipped with advanced lock technologies, like biometric fingerprint readers to speed up the process.

Next time you're in the market for a trustworthy security solution, take time to consider the in-wall/floor option.
